Teenagers convicted of series of robberies |
||
|
Two teenagers who carried out a series of knifepoint robberies in and around Dunstable between October and November last year have been given Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs). The orders place strict restrictions on their behaviour and are specifically designed to tackle anti-social behaviour. One of the pair, a 17-year-old boy, was convicted of five robberies, one attempted robbery and driving a vehicle dangerously with no licence or insurance. The second offender, a 15-year-old boy, was convicted of five robberies, three attempted robberies and an assault on a police officer. Neither can be named due to their age. Under the terms of the two-year CBOs, granted on Tuesday (17 March), they are not allowed to associate with each other, be in groups of people behaving anti-socially or be in the vicinity of any local school. They have also been referred to the youth offending service as part of the magistrates’ ruling. Chief Inspector Jim Goldsmith from Bedfordshire Police said: “We know how concerning these incidents were to our local community and we have invested a considerable amount of time and resource into preventing further criminality and bringing these two prolific offenders to justice. “I hope that these orders will help them to get off this criminal track and bring reassurance to the public that their behaviour is being monitored and they will be subject to further sanction should they choose to commit any further offences. “We would ask anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour to report it so that we can continue to take action.” Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour is encouraged to report it online. In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, always call 999. For non‑urgent matters, call 101. You can also report information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. | ||
