🐾 Public Safety Reminder for Dog Owners 🐾

As part of our commitment to keeping our rural communities safe, we’d like to remind all dog owners of the importance of keeping dogs on leads in public places. This helps prevent:

  • Dog-on-dog attacks
  • Dogs biting or intimidating people
  • Dogs being dangerously out of control
  • Under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, it is an offence for a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place. This includes situations where a dog:

  • Injures someone
  • Makes someone fear they might be injured
  • Attacks another dog
  • To avoid incidents and ensure everyone can enjoy public spaces safely:

  • Always keep your dog on a lead unless in a designated off-lead area.
  • Make sure your dog is under control at all times.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, other dogs, livestock or people nearby.
  • Let’s work together to keep our parks, streets and countryside safe for everyone — including our pets.

    Thank you for your cooperation.
